A Fredericksburg pool project should be designed for the property, not selected from a standard layout and forced into the backyard. The Pool Company Construction builds custom inground concrete pools and begins with the conditions that shape the project: the yard, home, intended use, access, grade, and plans for the surrounding space.
Our pool construction process
Understand the property and your goals
We start by discussing how you want to use the pool and what you want it to add to your home. The layout of the yard, the architectural style of the house, available access, and the relationship between the pool and other outdoor areas all influence the design.
Map the pool location
Before construction, the proposed pool location is mapped so you can review the placement and discuss adjustments. This helps connect the pool to the home, patio, yard circulation, and existing features that need to remain accessible.
Develop and refine the design
Our team uses pool-design software to make the concept visible and presents the design for feedback. The plan can be refined before construction begins. Shapes, spas, tanning shelves, water features, coping, decking, and covers can all be considered as part of the backyard plan. Learn more about our custom pool design process.
Build the inground concrete pool
Our published construction information describes inground pools built with dry shotcrete, a form of concrete. Construction planning also accounts for the pool's relationship to surrounding grades, retaining elements, access routes, equipment, and outdoor-living features.
Documented Fredericksburg site challenges
In the Swimming Pool Spa Project, a failed fiberglass pool was removed and replaced with a new gunite pool and relocated spa. The project also included a raised bond beam, stone facing, and water features.
The Scordellis Swimming Pool had more than five feet of grade change and limited access because of an existing shed. Its documented solution included a retaining wall, reverse bond beam, and sun shelf. These projects show why grade, drainage, access, and existing construction should be discussed at the beginning.
Fredericksburg permits and inspections
The City of Fredericksburg requires permits before most construction work begins. The City's inspection guidance identifies pool-related inspections such as electrical bonding and steel placement. Its Pool and Barrier Affidavit also addresses responsibility for the pool, barrier, electrical, plumbing, gas, and final inspection. Review current City requirements early and discuss project responsibilities before work starts.
