The Federal Hill project brings a swimming pool and raised spa together in a downtown Fredericksburg backyard. Its defining features include an infinity edge, an automatic pool cover, a paved pool patio, and a Badu Swim Jet. The original photographs below show the completed pool within the property's garden setting.
A Pool and Spa in a Downtown Backyard
The raised spa sits beside the swimming pool, with steps leading down from the garden toward the water. The existing project description records the spa as 18 inches above the pool. The surrounding patio provides space alongside both the pool and spa, while an existing smokehouse was converted into a bathhouse.
Infinity Edge, Concealed Cover, and Swim Jet
- Infinity edge: Water flows over a weir wall into a catch pool, creating the negative-edge effect described in this project.
- Automatic cover: The cover's leading edge is concealed, and the cover tucks beneath the coping when not in use.
- Raised spa: The spa is positioned above the pool and finished with a brick exterior, visible in the project photographs.
- Badu Swim Jet: The installed swim jet creates a current for swimming in place rather than making repeated laps and turns.
