This freeform Gunite pool is on the Potomac River in King George, Virginia. An oversized tanning shelf sits in front of the raised spa, which has natural-stone facing and spills toward the shelf.

LED bubblers are set into the shelf, and the patio is marble travertine. The pool finish is QuartzScapes Midnight Blue, and the pool equipment is Pentair.

Raised spa and river views

The pool, shelf, and spa are arranged to face the river setting. The spa spill and shelf bubblers add water movement within the pool.

Planning a similar setting

• Consider how the pool, spa, and shelf relate to site views and grade.
• Coordinate patio materials with the pool edge and surrounding landscape.
• Include equipment selection and service access in the design.
