Stonehenge is a rectangular pool built in a sloping Chantilly backyard identified in the portfolio as Loudoun County. The project combines the swimming area, a tanning shelf, retaining walls and outdoor seating. Its distinguishing feature is the way the pool fits the change in grade between the home and the yard.
Working with a sloping backyard
The original project account records two retaining walls, each approximately two feet high, used to address the steep backyard. The photographs show the pool below the house, with terraced edges and steps connecting outdoor areas. The arrangement is specific to this site; another property needs its own evaluation rather than the same wall or pool layout.

Entry, finish and cover choices
The published description identifies Aegean Green quartz plaster and a tanning shelf that also serves as entry steps. It also records an automatic pool cover with a hidden leading bar. These details connect the pool's appearance to practical choices about entry and use. A cover is not a substitute for active adult supervision, and any proposed barrier arrangement needs to meet the applicable approval requirements.

A coordinated outdoor setting
Custom Outdoor Solutions is credited in the original account with the outdoor wood-burning fireplace, paver deck and landscape work. The paver deck was installed on a concrete subdeck. Those contributions are part of the completed setting and should not be presented as work performed solely by the pool contractor.
The photographs show a paved route around the water, seating and a connection to the lawn. When planning a similar outdoor space, clarify who is responsible for the pool, retaining work, paving and landscaping, and how those scopes will be coordinated.
Ideas to bring to your design consultation
- How the pool relates to the house when the yard changes elevation.
- Where steps, seating and walking routes belong in the layout.
- Whether a tanning shelf and an automatic cover fit your preferred design.
- Which outdoor features require separate providers or additional planning.
