The Natural Stone pool is identified in the original portfolio as a Spotsylvania-area project. It combines an enlarged step area, umbrella shade, natural stone and planting beds with places to sit around the water. The design gives the entry and gathering spaces a prominent role in the backyard.

Space to gather at the pool entry

The published project account describes enlarging a step to provide seating and adding an umbrella for shade. The photographs show the umbrella beside the rounded step area, with outdoor chairs and a paved patio nearby. These details offer a specific example of designing for time spent at the edge of the water as well as swimming.

A step or seating area is not a substitute for supervision or an assessment of swimming ability. For a new design, discuss entry, depth, access and shade as individual choices for your household.

Natural stone and planting around the pool

Stonework and planting beds frame the pool and connect it to the rest of the yard. In the overview photograph, the planted foreground, seating and approach from the home are visible together. The finished setting is more than a choice of pool shape: it includes the paths and places people use around the water.

Credit for the outdoor pavilion

The original portfolio credits Greensward Landscaping with the outdoor pavilion and fireplace above the pool. Those features belong to the completed outdoor setting, but they are not presented here as work performed solely by The Pool Company Construction. When discussing your own yard, clarify the responsibility for pool construction, paving, landscaping and additional structures.

Use this project as design inspiration

• Consider how you want to enter the pool and where people will sit.
• Discuss shade near the water rather than leaving it until the end of the design.
• Plan the connection between stonework, planting beds and the poolside path.
• Identify any separate outdoor-living scope and the provider responsible for it.

The portfolio's location description is Spotsylvania-area; it does not establish a precise customer address or that this project is at Lake Anna.
